Refunds and cancellation
Version 2026-08-03. What happens to your money if you change your mind.
The short version
Every subscription starts with a free trial, so you can see whether docubend is worth paying for before you pay for it. You can cancel at any time, in two clicks, and you will not be charged again. And if a charge goes through that you did not mean to make, tell us within 30 days and we will refund it.

The free trial
When you subscribe, Stripe collects a card but does not charge it. The checkout page tells you exactly how long the trial runs and shows Total due today $0.00 before you confirm anything. Cancel before the trial ends and you are never charged at all — there is nothing to refund, because no money moved.
If the card turns out to be bad at the end of the trial, the subscription is cancelled rather than left owing. You cannot end up in debt to us for something you never completed.
Cancelling
Open the account menu, choose Billing, and cancel there. That opens your own billing page at Stripe, where you can also change the card or download past invoices.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end the month you have already paid for — you keep everything Pro does until that period runs out, and then the account goes back to the free tier.
What we refund
We will refund the most recent monthly charge, in full, if you ask within 30 days of it being taken. You do not have to explain why. The usual reasons are the honest ones: you meant to cancel and forgot, or somebody on your team subscribed twice.
What we do not do is refund months that went by without anybody mentioning them. If several charges have gone through and you think they were all a mistake, write to us anyway and say what happened — we would rather sort it out than have you feel cheated by a $9 subscription.
Refunds go back to the card that paid, through Stripe. Stripe usually returns the money within five to ten working days; how quickly it appears is your bank's decision, not ours.
Your documents are not held hostage
Nothing is deleted when a subscription ends. Your documents stay in your account, you can still sign in, and you can export them. A lapsed subscription changes what you can do, never what you have.
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU
You have a statutory right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days of entering it. Nothing on this page reduces that right, and where it says something different from the law where you live, the law wins.
Before you dispute a charge
Please email us first. A card dispute takes weeks, costs both of us more than the subscription is worth, and we will almost certainly just refund you. tom@brevardcreek.com reaches a person.
Enterprise agreements
Accounts on an enterprise agreement are invoiced directly rather than billed through Stripe, and refunds are handled under that agreement rather than this page.
